  • Monday, March 12 - 6:30 pm (Spanish translation available at this meeting)535 Kelly Avenue, Half Moon Bay.

At its meeting of September 5, 2017, the City Council approved a new 10-year franchise agreement with Republic Services (formerly Allied Waste Services) to provide Residential and Commercial Garbage, Recyclable Material and Organic Waste Collection services. The new agreement's services will begin on April 2, 2018. At these community meetings, attendees can get questions answered about the new and enhanced services being provided under the new agreement. These includes the exchanging of old carts for new carts (all residents will then have three carts - one each for garbage, recycling, and composting); provision of a compost kitchen pail for convenient collection of food scraps to be emptied into the new compost cart; household hazardous waste drop off, e-waste drop off, and document shredding events; bulky item pickups; oil/filter and battery recycling, and compost giveaways. Located 28 miles south of San Francisco, the City of Half Moon Bay is a community of about 12,000 people, situated on the peninsula between forested hills and some of the most beautiful coastlines that California has to offer. Its historic Downtown is home to numerous shops, art galleries, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and other businesses, and its celebrated beaches and parks are wonders of nature, accessible to pedestrians, bicyclists, and equestrians. With its many activities and events, beautiful natural scenery, old-town charm, and abundance of retail and commercial services, Half Moon Bay is a regional destination. The City's website is www.hmbcity.com.
