PHOTOS: Learning the Waves at Open Ocean Surf Camp

Dave Alexander and his instructors at Open Ocean Surfing are holding camps this summer just outside Half Moon Bay in El Granada.

The waves from the world-famous Mavericks break come rolling perfectly into the outdoor classroom at Surfer's Beach.

Students from previous camps often drop by on classes to hang out and surf. Even families take lessons as a whole for quality bonding.

Due to the popularity of these surfing classes, they will also be held during spring break next year.

The camps run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until the end of August. Those interested in signing up can do so through the city of Half Moon Bay's Recreation Department.
