Stay Puff Marshmallow One of First-Place Costume Contest Winners

For awhile, it was neck-and-neck between Kitty in a Litter Box and the Stay Puff Marshmallow. Kitty's strategy was to stay fresh; Stay Puff was determined not to get burned. Judges in the 0-3 year-old group had a tough decision. Both contestants looked good. A tie seemed the best solution. So Kitty in a Litter Box and Stay Puff Marshmallow, along with Polka Dots and Magician Amazing, all shared first place trophies Saturday morning at the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival Costume Contest.

151 participants signed up as the judging started, and another 35 of the well-heeled arrived late. Total number of good costumes: 184.

Among those on display: Pride of Chunky, Cupcake, Swamp Girl, Punk Zombie, and Dress for Less.

Half Moon Bay Patch was on hand to capture some of the images of the contest, ranging from the outrageous to the sublime.
