From HMB City: You're invited to participate in planning for the future of the Poplar Beach area!

Poplar Beach Gateways is a multi-year project to create a plan for the Poplar Beach area to improve parking and access, create a phased program for erosion mitigation, bluff restoration, creation of gateway elements, and initiate work on the easterly re-alignment of the Coastal Trail between Poplar Street and Kelly Avenue. Poplar Beach Parking Lot, end of Poplar Street past Railroad Avenue

This will be an Open House workshop where you can learn more about the project, and offer your input and ideas at this early stage of developing a plan.

The park at Half Moon Bay's Poplar Beach is a much-visited community asset which includes a Coastal Trail segment, bluffs, a parking lot, beach access, and over 15 undeveloped acres of bluff top land. Residents and visitors appreciate the natural setting and expansive views, and access to the beach below.

Unfortunately the bluffs there are retreating up to 3 feet per year due to erosion. This impacts beach access, trail and overlook
locations, and ultimately reduces the size of the park. The City is working on a plan to preserve the park's natural environment, while enhancing the users' experience. The plan will be developed in three phases over the next year.
