Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay Raises Money to End Polio

Rotarians gather at Cameron's Pub on October 24th

Cameron’s Pub was the venue for the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay’s viewing of the World Polio Day livestream event on October 24. Little did we know when we selected the popular pub and sports bar for the screening that this would also be game 3 of a nail biting World Series featuring our hometown team the San Francisco Giants. Cameron Palmer, the owner of the pub, is a generous supporter of Coastside causes and volunteered the space at no cost to the Club, and in the interest of leveraging every dollar we collected, we gratefully accepted the offer.

One screen of the 6 TV’s in Cameron’s back room was set to screen the livestream. It was great to talk to people pouring in to see the game about World Polio Day, Rotary, and the opportunity to eradicate the disease in our world. The $20 suggested door donation coupled with other Club members’ contributions totaled over $300. The best news is how far those dollars go to support this cause with the 2:1 matching grant from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation – with a simple effort, this event yielded $1000 in total funds for End Polio Now!
