Researchers know that music plays an integral role in the cognitive development of children.
They stress that every child is born with an innate musical aptitude that needs to be nurtured. If a child does not have early experiences with music, they will probably never reach their maximum aptitude.
Passively listening to music is not enough. Making music with your child is what it's all about!
One of the programs I teach is called Kids' MusicRound and it's all about putting children on a path to basic musical competence.
