Sheriff's Activity League to Host "Play Streets" at Moonridge
Series of children's events designed to encourage interaction between Sheriff's deputies and local families.
This summer, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Activities League (SAL) will host a series of free children's events at the Moonridge housing complex with food and activities such as bounce houses, face painting and water games.
Called "Play Streets," the events are designed "to provide the kids and families we serve an opportunity to interact with deputies in a fun environment," according to the Sheriff's Office.
Play Streets will be held on Tuesday afternoons for the next five weeks, alternating between the Moonridge location just outside Half Moon Bay and at Redwood City's St. Francis Center.

The first Play Streets in Redwood City on July 13 brought out Sheriff's deputies from the Community Policing Unit, SAL staff and staff from the Community Alliance to Revitalize Our Neighborhood (C.A.R.O.N.). C.A.R.O.N. is an initiative of the Sheriff's Office that works with immigrant families and has sponsored events in Pescadero and North Fair Oaks.
Play Streets events at Moonridge are scheduled for July 19, August 2 and August 16. The remaining Play Streets events in Redwood City are scheduled for July 26 and August 9. All events will take place from from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and are open to the public.
