Half Moon Bay resident and artist Judy Shintani exhibits her Deconstructed Kimono installation piece at the San Francisco Fine Arts Fair held this weekend (May 19-22) at the Fort Mason Center's Festival Pavilion (Buchanan at Marina St.). The piece is a visual exploration of the premonition Shintani says she felt months before the devastating Japanese earthquake and tsunami in March. Saturday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

A Half Moon Bay tradition, Rock the Block is one of the largest parties of the year. Half Moon Bay Volunteer Fire Department Fundraiser
Help establish a Fire Hall and Museum (near the Main St. Half Moon Bay Fire Station) tonight. Volunteer firefighters will be serving a marinated crab and barbequed salmon dinner to supporters.

Sunday, May 22Equine Rescue Center Fundraiser
Enjoy some good barbeque in Half Moon Bay on behalf of rescue horses in need. The Half Moon Bay-based Equine Rescue Center is holding their annual fundraiser from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the (535 Kelly Ave., Half Moon Bay). Nashville recording artist Erica Sunshine Lee will be performing and a silent auction will be held so the Center can take care of the horses currently in their care, as well as bring more in to their fold. Kids will have fun too, with face painting, crafts, games, pin the tail on the donkey, and bobbing for apples.
Companions in Waiting Animal Adoption Fair, Art Sale at Nursery Garden Party
What could be more relaxing than hanging out in a nursery and admiring some local art and meeting some animals? The animal rescue and adoption organization will be bringing some animals to the nursery (340 Purissima St., Half Moon Bay) for those interested in taking home a "companion in waiting." Artists will showcase their wares as well. The event runs from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
