Hanford police arrest man for buying cigarettes for a minor, possessing firearms as a felon (hanfordsentinel.com) — Hanford police recently ran an undercover "shoulder tap" operation at 11th Avenue and Lacey Boulevard, leading to the arrest of a local man accused of buying cigarettes for a 15-year-old and possessing ammunition as a felon. Funded by a state tobacco grant, the effort targets illegal tobacco sales to minors, and residents are urged to report suspicious retailers.
   

2. Blues and Roots Festival artists on why they love the blues (hanfordsentinel.com) — Hanford's free Blues and Roots Festival is back at Civic Park this Saturday, Sept. 19, from 5–9 p.m., celebrating its 25th year with live blues and roots performances. Touring and local artists, along with Main Street Hanford and the Central Valley Blues Society, promise a family-friendly night of music, dancing, and hometown atmosphere for residents of all ages.

Suicide prevention walk bringing hope to community members in Hanford (yourcentralvalley.com) — Hanford residents just joined Kings County's third annual Walk of Hope, a local event focused on suicide prevention, remembrance, and connecting people to mental health resources. Organized by county health agencies and community partners, the walk emphasized reducing stigma, supporting LGBTQ+ and transgender residents, and reminding everyone that confidential help is available anytime by calling or texting 988.
   

4. DOJ files manslaughter charge against Kings County Judge (sjvsun.com) — A Kings County judge has been charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter after a bicyclist was fatally rear-ended last year at Hanford Armona Road and 16th Avenue, just outside Hanford. State prosecutors say Judge Kendra Weber is accused in the crash that killed 63-year-old Bryan Leroy Garcia, with the case now filed in Kings County Superior Court.
   

5. Beyond Visalia: Student Resource at Hanford and Tulare Campuses (thecampusjournal.com) — Students using College of the Sequoias' Hanford campus have more support than they might realize, from monthly fresh food distributions to help with childcare, mental health, housing, and transportation. Staff highlight how rewarding it is to guide Hanford students from first questions to graduation, while tutoring and other academic services continue to grow across the smaller Hanford and Tulare centers.
