SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Ukiah woman died and three other people were injured Sunday morning when an SUV went off U.S. Highway 101 near Cloverdale and collided with a tree, an official with the California Highway Patrol said.

The solo-vehicle crash was reported at about 8:25 a.m. on northbound U.S. 101, south of Asti Road, according to CHP Santa Rosa area Spokesman David deRutte.

CHP's preliminary investigation of the crash indicated the driver of a 2011 Honda Pilot, a 47-year-old Talmage man, lost control of the SUV as he entered a sweeping left curve in the roadway. The vehicle then veered to the right and traveled off the east side of U.S. 101 and down a wooded embankment near the Asti Road off-ramp, hitting a tree, deRutte said.
