Adel's: A Restaurant By Any Other Name Would Be...?

If the casual popular eatery at the north end of Healdsburg, were to change its name, what would it be?

"We are currently working on changing the restaurant's name," said Abe Agil, whose family owns and manages the Healdsburg eatery. "However, we are looking for help from our locals!"

Agil said customers can come in, write down their restaurant name suggestion and drop it in the suggestion box.

"If their name is chosen, they will win a $100 gift card," he said.

Agil said the restaurant, which won a earlier this year for its kids' menu, is not planning any other changes to the menu, decor, service or operations.

Only the name would be different in hopes of helping to differentiate the Healdsburg restaurant from the Santa Rosa eatery with the same name, he said.

"We just want to make it known that we are not the same restaurant," Agil said.

The Healdsburg Adel's was once part of the small family-owned chain that also owns the Santa Rosa Adel's on College Avenue.

However, about four years ago, Agil's family bought the Healdsburg operation.

"Minor tweaks and adjustments were made to improve the quality, the service, and a light makeover was done -- including new paint, booths, tables and uniforms," he said. "However, essentially it is the same dining experience."

All in all, though, Agil said the Healdsburg Adel's is not the same as it was under the previous ownership, and it is also different from the the Santa Rosa restaurant that still shares its name.

He said the contest will continue until a name is chosen. People can submit as many suggestions as they like, he said.

"Most importantly, nothing is changing except for the name," Agil said. "We plan on keeping everything exactly the same -- menu, service, etc."
