Biker Crashes After Fleeing Police Chief In Norcal

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A biker topped 100 mph while trying to outrun a local police chief before crashing and being tossed from his motorcycle.

The motorcyclist crashed and was ejected near Occidental Road on Monday, police said.

Chief Sean McDonagh was patrolling at about 7:30 p.m. when he saw the motorcyclist riding through the bicycle lane on South Gravenstein Highway and passing multiple vehicles.

McDonagh attempted to stop the rider, but instead of yielding he drove away, police said.

McDonagh followed the rider north on South Gravenstein Highway and Petaluma Avenue, east on McKinley Street, south on Morris Street, west on Sebastopol Avenue, and continued onto Bodega Avenue and Bodega Highway.

The rider then traveled north on Ferguson Road and Mill Station Road.

The pursuit ended at Mill Station Road and Occidental Road.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling too fast to negotiate a bend immediately before the intersection, causing him to crash and ejecting him from the motorcycle.

Officers took the rider, identified as Jesse Kruszynski, 45, of unincorporated Sebastopol, into custody after the crash. Emergency crews transported him to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for observation and any necessary medical treatment. Authorities seized and towed the motorcycle.

Police said Kruszynski reached extremely high speeds, committed numerous traffic violations, and endangered himself, motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

Kruszynski faces charges including felony evading, driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, exceeding 100 mph, failing to stop for red traffic signals, and additional California Vehicle Code violations, police said.
