Newly Remodeled Geothermal Visitors Center
Social Butterfly Vickie Norris reports on the happenings around town - and sometimes out-of-town.
Sometimes wandering off the beaten track from Healdsburg can be a delight.
Last week, we went to Middletown where Calpine Corporation had their soft (VIP) opening to their newly remodeled Visitor Center. It was officially opened to the public on Sept. 1.
It is worth the trip to Middletown to see the newly designed displays. The exhibits very clearly explain geothermal energy, how it is used, extracted and processed.

The Center is museum quality with many detailed exhibits from the modern turbine, original turbine engine and world globe which are displayed outside, to the very high tech map with all the conceivable variations inside. There are history displays and hands-on experiments.
The Center educates and entertains anyone of any age interested in geology, geothermal energy or just curious about things you may not have seen before. The Visitors Center is located at 15500 Central Park Road, Middletown, CA 95461, 707-987-4270.
