Sonoma County artist, Laura Roney, unveils Aspirations, a new collection of paintings in oil, celebrating the unique differing goals people set during our lives, challenging us to take bold steps forward.Of universal inspiration, Aspiration and Awe splashes the Milky Way’s starry brilliance across the heavens, capturing our imagination and hope as worldly cares are left behind.Moving from natural forces to human endeavor, looking toward social change, Aspiring to Vote, the portrait of a hopeful suffragette, evokes the dream for a better future.A lifetime goal for many, the marathon, Aspiring for 26.2, captures the early morning excitement waiting for start times.“People doing ordinary things but dreaming larger for the future has been a great inspiration for this series.I hope folks will be inspired by the boldness of people’s dreams,” commented Roney on her inspiration for the work.
Art has been a lifelong passion for Roney.Beginning her art studies at a young age, whatever avenue she was pursuing in life, she continued her artistic endeavors.After a successful career in microbiology and pharmaceutical research, a family move to Northern California enabled Roney to focus on her art.She received her MFA from Academy of Art University, San Francisco.

The Stairway Smallworks Showcase features Linda Loveland Reid’s Intentional Chaos, a collection of exciting mixed-media works that explode with excitement and energy. Random patterns, amorphous shapes and dancing dribbles magically coalesce into bold statements.Intriguing and compelling, like interlocking gears, in Patterns of Memory multiple patterns interlock on fields of gold and black.“I love throwing ink, paint and even coffee onto a blank canvas and creating through instinct, gesture and emotion.Distilling energy into smaller works brings new challenges and some happy surprises,” noted Reid on her creative process.
