Candidate Exits Healdsburg City Council Race

HEALDSBURG, CA — One of three candidates has quit Healdsburg’s only contested City Council race, but his name will still appear on the ballot in the city’s first district election.

Alex Wood has suspended his campaign for Healdsburg City Council’s District 2 seat, leaving Mathew Lopez and Scott Pratt in the city’s only competitive council race on Nov. 3.

“After much consideration, I have suspended my campaign for Healdsburg City Council,” Wood wrote Patch in an email. “My name will remain on the ballot and I will not assume office if elected.”

The election marks the first time Healdsburg will vote for council members by district.

Only residents of Districts 2 and 4 will vote for council members this year. Mayor Chris Herrod is seeking the District 4 seat.

District 2 includes part of downtown and has no incumbent within its boundaries.

District 4 includes neighborhoods east of Healdsburg Avenue between Powell Avenue and Terrace Boulevard.

The city will elect representatives for Districts 1, 3, and 5 in 2028. Each council member will serve a four-year term.
