UPDATED: Cyclist Dies of Heart Attack During Century Race
Arizona man collapses in Dry Creek Valley on West Dry Creek, efforts to revive failed
A rider in the Santa Rosa Cycling Club's annual Wine Country Centur4y died Sunday of an apparent heart attack, according to the Press Democrat.
A reader responded to the article saying the rider was witnessed receiving CPR midday on West Dry Creek Rd., outside of Healdsburg. The location places the rider on the shorter 200-kilomter route, still over a "century" ride at 121 miles.
The PD said the man was a 54-year old who "had flown from Phoenix to take part in the Wine Country Century" with his wife, also a participant in the race.
