Divers Find Body Of Missing SF Man In Russian River: Sheriff

The San Francisco man was reported missing Sunday night after he did not show up for dinner with friends, a Sonoma sheriff's official said.

GUERNEVILLE, CA — The body of a San Francisco man reported missing over the weekend was found Monday in the waters of the Russian River by search-and-rescue divers, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office. The 29-year-old identified as Mubarak Salisu was reported missing at 8:40 p.m. Sunday by his ex-husband, authorities said.

"The caller reported that he was vacationing in a vacation rental home in the 15600 block of Riverside Drive Guerneville with his ex-husband and several other friends all weekend," sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

The caller reportedly told authorities the missing man's flip flops and t-shirt were found at a dock on the edge of the river, and his cellphone at the vacation home.

"The missing man didn’t show up for dinner and the friends became concerned for his welfare," Crum said. "They looked for him but were unable to find him."

After deputies searched the surrounding area Sunday night and did not find Salisu, the Sheriff’s Volunteer Search and Rescue dive team, aided by the Russian River and Monte Rio Fire Departments, responded, Crum said.
