Drivers Doing Donuts Break World Record

Dozens of drivers descended on Sonoma's Infineon Raceway to take part in the attempt to break the current donut-spinning world record of 57. They did it.

UPDATE: Seventy-five cars performed simultaneous donuts for more than 15 seconds Tuesday at the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma County, successfully breaking a Guinness World record.

Professional and amateur drivers gathered at Sonoma's Infineon Raceway to take part in the attempt to break the record for most cars performing donuts simultaneously Tuesday afternoon. Evidence of the claim was documented and will be sent to Guinness World Records for final verification.

The previous world record of 57 cars spinning donuts was set in Queensland, Australia, in 2010. "That was a blast. With all the smoke and all the cars doing donuts simultaneously; I've never seen anything as big as that," said professional drifter and San Francisco native Calvin Wan. "That was just a great time."

in October attracted 37 drivers. Raceway spokeswoman Diana Brennan said that, as of yesterday morning, 90 racers were registered for the event.

Raceway officials said that at least one other smaller practice was held last fall, but that the October practice was the only chance for a larger number of drivers to practice performing the trick simultaneously.
