DUI Suspect Topples Power Lines In July 4 Crash: SRPD

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Fourth of July crash that knocked down power lines and closed part of a Santa Rosa intersection ended with the arrest of a 50-year-old driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Santa Rosa police responded about 6:25 p.m. Saturday to reports of a traffic collision near Bluebell Drive and Coffey Lane.

When officers arrived, they found that a vehicle had struck a power pole, bringing down power lines across the area, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

Officers closed part of the roadway to protect motorists and pedestrians while Pacific Gas and Electric Co. crews repaired the damaged utility equipment.

During their investigation, officers developed evidence that the driver was impaired, police said.

Police arrested Maira Reyna Sancen Ramirez, 50, of Santa Rosa, on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

Police closed down the Bluebell Drive and Coffey Lane area until repairs were done and they could reopen the roadway.
