Poetry Writing Workshop with Visiting New York City Poet Lee Slonimsky

Walk-ins welcome! Come and write with us and explore.

WALKING
WITH THE SONNET (OR WITHOUT IT)

We will start with an introduction to this nearly 800 year old form, looking at examples from Dante to Edna St. Vincent Millay to Marilyn Hacker, with an eye to inspiring us to write free and formal verse. We’ll workshop the immediate results in a collegial and supportive way, not only your new work but also an older poem you bring with you to class if you wish. This will be a two-hour Sonoma County version of his New York City workshop whose members include Poetry Society of America Vice President Elizabeth Coleman and brilliant Chinese American poet Pui Ying Wong. All are welcome!
