Healdsburg Jeweler Lands Roles In 'Prada' Sequel

A Healdsburg gallery supplies 150 pieces for "The Devil Wears Prada 2," giving locals an early look at screen-worn designs.

HEALDSBURG, CA — A Healdsburg gallery has slipped into a major Hollywood costume, placing glittering designs alongside some of fashion cinema’s most recognizable characters.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 brings back Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt — but behind the scenes, the gallery Lulo in downtown Healdsburg has already secured a starring role of its own.

When the film opens today, the spotlight will also land on a display case in Center Street, where the pieces will be waiting.

Healdsburg's Lulo lent 150 pieces of jewelry to the production, threading independent design into a sequel expected to draw global attention.

Co-owner Anne Kathrine “Katrina” Schjerbeck has been tracking the film’s rollout closely, spotting at least 10 of the gallery’s pieces in early trailers and social media posts, the Sonoma Magazine reported.

Among them: custom earrings created for Blunt’s character and a gold chain ring worn by Hathaway’s character, designed by Petaluma jeweler Siri Hansdotter.

The pieces also include the work of Mia Hebib. Every piece is entirely hand-forged, "drawing inspiration from architecture, nature, and human connection," according to the jeweler.

Prices for the featured pieces range from about $200 to $2,400. Schjerbeck said the gallery has held the original items back, timing their release to the film’s debut so local buyers can purchase the same designs seen on screen.
