Geyserville Adult Prom, Straight Out of The '70s
Raises money for Geyserville High School prom.
There were a lot of events going on Saturday evening, among them the Geyserville Adult Prom held at de Lorimier Winery in Healdsburg.
The event is organized by parents to raise money for the high school prom. The students need a little help with the fundraising for the prom, since there are so few of them. The 2013 class is only 20-23 students.
This year's Adult Prom, the seventh, had a '70s theme. It's one of those crazy little events only locals know about, a community gathering of parents, former parents, and grandparents of Geyserville students.

Quite a few participants came decked out in their best seventies outfits, mostly from Salvation Army because they were too young to actually have them in their closest from that period. A few attendees may have lived through the era and may or may not have had their original finery, but many seemed to know how to dance to the rhythms of the seventies.
The crowning of the king and queen are done by raffle (they say), it seems a little suspicious since it actually always goes to what seems to be the most appropriate people.

Nevertheless, last year's winners Queen Barbara Petersen and King Lisa Harjak gave up their crowns to King Scott Alexander & Queen Danielle diBari Alexander, husband and wife.
The former "King" Lisa Harjak had to fill-in on the announcing as the event coordinator had an emergency and had to leave. Harjak did an admiral job in the typical Geyserville fashion where people are not afraid or hesitant to pitch in and get a job done. Then there was the "first dance by the new King & Queen to "Staying Alive".
