HEALDSBURG, CA — Local first responders, both current and retired, will read the names of the first responders who died in the Sept. 11 attacks in New YOrk during a 25th-anniversary remembrance at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at the Healdsburg Plaza. The community is welcome to gather at the Plaza monument and reflect together. Retired Healdsburg Fire Engineer Ben Gilliam obtained the monument's World Trade Center I-beam where the memorial will be held. The memorial was dedicated in 2012 after the city granted volunteers, including Healdsburg contractors and Healdsburg High School students, permission for its design, fabrication, and installation.
