Conclusions from Community Input

The Board of Trustees heard from the public that you expect the next Superintendent to be an experienced, innovative, and community- and culturally-minded educational leader with excellent communication and management skills who has demonstrated success in improving student achievement.

Ideal candidates would have classroom and administrative experience, a proven track record of raising student achievement, closing achievement gaps, and inspiring teachers and staff with a strong vision for the future.

We heard loud and clear that we are challenging our teachers and staff with many new programs and initiatives in support of 21st century learning and there is a clear desire to stay the course.

The Board wholeheartedly agrees with this direction and is committed to finding a leader who is dedicated to our major programs: implementing Project Based Learning; coordinating K-12 student curriculum; supporting and monitoring Accelerated English success; implementing Restorative Justice; expanding career readiness activities; effectively managing facility construction projects; and leading other ongoing initiatives. We need a leader who has the vision and leadership to take our District to the next level of greatness.

Next Step in Superintendent Selection Process

The Trustees decided that the next step will be to open an application process to internal candidates, reserving the right to extend the search more broadly.

The Trustees selected a subcommittee to work with SCOE to customize interview questions that reflect our vision for the next superintendent as defined above.

The Board of Trustees is excited and unified in our quest to find the next great leader for our District.
