The Healdsburg Greyhounds put on an offensive and defensive show Friday night at the expense of the home team Elsie Allen Lobos. The Lobos couldn’t get anything to work in the 51-0 loss.
Healdsburg’s defense came out strong, holding the Lobos on the first possession of the game forcing a punt. Junior defensive back Chandler Tinsley received the punt and raced 55 yards to the end zone for Healdsburg’s first score. A kick by Daniel Dillion set the score at 7-0.
A Lobos fumble just a minute later gave the Hounds great field position, setting up a four yard touch down run by Trystan Cleaver, his first of two TDs for the night. Dillion missed the extra point kick wide leaving the score 13-0 with 8:30 left in the first quarter.

Andrew Kozel completed the 1st quarter scoring less than two minutes later on a 25-yard rush to the end zone. A Dillion kick brought the score to 20-0.
The second quarter was again dominated by the Hounds with a 3-yard scoring run by Cleaver ( his second TD), a 29-yard field goal by Dillion and a 10-yard inception return by Jared Walker. The Hounds closed the half with a 37-0 lead.

First year coach Todd Beth began pulling his starters in the second half, both to give the young team more playing experience and to try and not run-up the score. It didn’t make much difference as the Hounds’ defense continued to dominate the Lobos and the Healdsburg offense could do little wrong. The only down side for the Hounds was a rash of penalties which did more to stop the inexperienced offensive squad than the Lobos defense.
Healdsburg’s Tanner Cristando scored on a 16 yard pass from Scott Reynolds early in the 3rd quarter and Jared Walker scored his second TD late in the 4th quarter on a 15 yard run. Dillion made both PATs giving the Hounds a final score of 51-0.
The Hound JV squad won 28-8 earlier in the evening.
The Hounds host Petaluma next Friday night. The varsity starts at 7:30 at Rec Park.
