North Bay Man Reported Missing From Grand Canyon
A missing person search was conducted over the weekend at the Grand Canyon for a Healdsburg man who did not return from a day hike.

GRAND CANYON, AZ — After conducting a missing person search throughout the weekend at Grand Canyon National Park for a Healdsburg man reported missing person after he did not return from a day hike, the search effort for 66-year-old Peter Francis Schwab moved to "limited continuous searching" status Monday, according to the National Park Service.
"The investigation remains open, and we will respond to any new clues as they develop," NPS Spokeswoman Becky Latanich told Patch late Monday afternoon.
Schwab, of Healdsburg, California was last seen Friday, June 28 after taking a river trip near river mile 167 on a small beach downriver from National Canyon, according to Latanich.

From there, Schwab was scheduled to take a day hike to the Narrows in Grand Canyon but did not return, NPS officials said.
Schwab was last seen wearing a tan, full-brim hat, white long-sleeve shirt, gray cargo shorts and older Teva-style shoes/sandals.

"A missing person investigation is on-going, no further information is available at this time," Latanich said in her initial statement about the case.
