Registered Sex Offender Caught With Child Porn Gets Prison Time
The Sonoma County Probation Department found 127 pornographic photos of children on the man's phone, prosecutors said.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A registered sex offender was sentenced in Sonoma County Superior
Court last week for being a registered sex offender in possession of child pornography, the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office said.
Chad Allen Capitani, 48, of Santa Rosa, was convicted in 2001 of committing a lewd and lascivious act with a child under age 14, and he was required to register as a sex offender for life.
In 2018, Capitani was convicted of failing to resister as a sex offender and he was placed on supervised probation.

In August 2019, the Sonoma County Probation Department found 127 pornographic photos of children on Capitani's phone, and he was convicted in October of being a registered sex offender in possession of child pornography, the District Attorney's Office said.
Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Mark Urioste sentenced Capitani on Dec. 5 to eight years in state prison. The prison sentence includes an enhancement under California's Three Strikes Law of having a prior sex offense conviction in 2001.
