  1. Sen. Mike McGuire, a 42-year-old Healdsburg resident who represents a large swath of Northern California, was named Senate majority leader Wednesday by Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins. Sen. McGuire is replacing Bob Hertzberg who terms out this year. McGuire has served as assistant majority leader for three years. (Healdsburg Patch)
  2. According to Redfin, a national real estate brokerage, housing prices across the nation have dropped but not for lack of demand. In Healdsburg, however, the median sale price of a single-family home has risen 3 percent to $987,500. To collect this data, Redfin tracked 72 homes sales from October through December.   3. A new psychiatric health facility that was approved by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors in May 2020 officially opened today. The Sonoma County Healing Center is a county-owned facility located at 7440 Los Guilicos Road in Santa Rosa will provide short-term treatment to individuals experiencing mental health issues.
