Sheriff’s Office Arrests Man In Trailer Theft, Chop Shop Case

Sonoma County Sheriff's Office arrested a suspect in a boat trailer theft and chop shop operation.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A man was arrested after Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies recovered multiple stolen boat trailers and uncovered an active chop shop linked to a theft at Spud Point Marina.

A Sonoma County Parks Unit deputy responded about 7:30 a.m. Jan. 17 to a report of a stolen boat trailer at the marina on Westshore Road. Surveillance footage later showed the trailer being towed by a white 2001 Chevrolet pickup, according to Sonoma County Sheriff's Office spokesman Juan Valencia.

Property Crimes Unit detectives tracked the truck and the stolen trailer the next day to a commercial area of the 100 block of W. Barham Avenue in Santa Rosa. Deputies detained 42-year-old Jason Ramos and found three additional trailers suspected of being stolen at the site, some partially dismantled.
