Shone Farm Plans Annual Fall Festival: Save The Date

Pick pumpkins, press apples, enjoy lunch and bring home olive oil and fresh produce. Plus admission and parking are free.

FORESTVILLE, CA – Santa Rosa Junior College's Shone Farm will hold its Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its farm, located at 7450 Steve Olson Lane, Forestville.

Admission and parking are free, as attendees experience the authentic farm's harvest season.

Activities will include U-pick pumpkins and other seasonal produce, apple-pressing, wood-milling demonstrations, a rotten-fruit slingshot, compost lessons, farm equipment displays and children’s activities, plus tours of the farm and forest.

Many activities will be presented by the students of SRJC’s Agriculture & Natural Resources Department, supported by Shone Farm staff.

Farm stands will showcase fall produce, Shone Farm wine and olive oil. Bulk oil will be available to purchase, so to bring your own bottle to fill.

Visitors also can enjoy an affordably priced lunch featuring fresh Shone-grown ingredients.

The 365-acre Shone Farm, in the Russian River valley, has a four-decade history as a field laboratory and teaching resource for SRJC’s Agriculture and Natural Resources students, who gain hands-on experience as they learn about natural resource management and conservation, sustainable agriculture, winemaking, viticulture, animal health and livestock management.
