Son Attacks Dad With Meat Cleaver
The father was listed in serious condition at an area hospital following the bloody attack, Santa Rosa police said.

SANTA ROSA, CA – A Santa Rosa man was taken to a hospital, listed in stable but serious condition, after he allegedly was attacked multiple times with a meat cleaver by his son Monday in their apartment, authorities said.
The victim's son, Samay Chan, 38, was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on suspicion of felony attempted murder after the bloody assault on the 2600 block of Northcoast Street, the Santa Rosa Police Department said.
Police were called at 7:27 p.m. for a possible stabbing at the home, where they found the 63-year-old father bleeding profusely from his wounds, the department said.

The two both reside at the apartment, and the suspect son was detained at the scene, police said.
Investigators determined the son become upset with his dad and in anger struck or stabbed the man several times with "a large meat cleaver" causing significant injuries, the agency said.

Detectives and field-evidence technicians took over the case, conducted interviews and wrote a search warrant for the residence to collect evidence and to process the scene, police said.
