Toddler Seriously Injured In HWY-101 Crash: Report
Toddler recovers after Highway 101 rollover crash near Santa Rosa sends child to trauma hospital before release.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A 3-year-old child is recovering after suffering major injuries in a rollover crash on Highway 101 near Santa Rosa.
The single-vehicle crash happened just before 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 between Hopper Avenue and Mendocino Avenue, the Press Democrat reported.
Investigators said the driver of a Honda Pilot, described only as a woman, struck the center median, causing the SUV to overturn onto its right side, according to the report.
The driver sustained minor injuries, while the 3-year-old passenger suffered major injuries, authorities said.

Emergency crews took both occupants to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital before the child was airlifted to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland for additional treatment.
CHP Officer David deRutte said Friday that the child had been discharged from the hospital, according to the report.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and the California Highway Patrol has not released additional details about what caused the vehicle to leave its lane.
