The Santa Rosa Police Department released a video celebrating 20-year veteran Detective Marylou Armer, who battled coronavirus for a month.

NORTH BAY, CA — The life of Detective Marylou Armer is celebrated in a video released this week by the Santa Rosa Police Department. Armer was a 20-year veteran of the Santa Rosa Police Department when she died March 31 after a monthlong battle with the coronavirus.

Armer, 44, was a resident of American Canyon and grew up in San Diego. She served as a police explorer for the National City Police Department, and in 1999, joined the Santa Rosa Police Department as a civilian.

"She was dedicated to fighting for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault," the Santa Rosa Police Department wrote Thursday in a social media post of the video. "Detective Armer's spirit, energy and legacy will never be forgotten and she is deeply missed. End of Watch March 31, 2020."
