Wanted Felon In Custody After Chase In Russian River: Watch
A multi-agency effort leads to the arrest of a man who led authorities through the Russian River.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA —A wanted felon was arrested Thursday after leading Sheriff's deputies on a foot and water chase into the Russian River.
The suspect fled a vehicle in the 11800 block of River Road, ran toward the Russian River, swam across, attempted to hide near the 13000 block of Riverside Drive, then continued westbound in the water.
A Sheriff’s helicopter tracked the suspect while a Marine Unit sergeant, assisted by a California State Parks lifeguard, entered the river and arrested him.

Authorities identified the man as 25-year-old Raymundo Navarro-Jimenez, who was wanted on a felony warrant from San Joaquin County for narcotics-related offenses and possession of child pornography, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff.
He now faces additional charges of evading and resisting arrest, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's office.
