Wind Advisory For Healdsburg: 30-45 MPH Gusts Expected

HEALDSBURG, CA — Healdsburg residents may be subject to power outages over the next 48 hours as gusty winds take aim at the North Bay, weather officials said.

A wind advisory went into effect at 3 a.m. Tuesday and continues through 9 a.m. Thursday for Coastal North Bay and the North Bay valleys, including the cities of Santa Rosa, South Santa Rosa, Napa, San Rafael, Petaluma, Novato, Rohnert Park and Healdsburg.

North winds 15-25 mph with gusts 30-45 mph are expected, according to the National Weather Service Bay Area.

"Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects," the weather service said. "Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects."

High Wind Warning

A separate high wind warning was issued at 3 a.m. Tuesday for the North Bay Mountains —including the cities of Angwin, Lagunitas-Forest Knolls and Woodacre — and continues through 9 a.m. Thursday.

North winds 20-35 mph with gusts 50-65 mph are expected, according to the National Weather Service. Peak wind gusts of 65-95 mph are possible on the leeward side of higher ridges and peaks, especially near traditionally windy locations such as Geyser Peak.

"Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines," the weather service said. "Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles."

Residents throughout the North Bay were encouraged to continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

"People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches," the weather service said. "If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive."
