5 Injured After Car Crashes into South Bay Planet Fitness

A total of 24 firefighters responded to the crash and helped provide medical attention.

TORRANCE, CA - Five people were injured when a car crashed into a Planet Fitness in Torrance on Wednesday.

The crash, reported around 4:55 p.m. at the gym at 20040 Hawthorne Blvd., near Del Amo Boulevard, sent four people to hospitals, and injured one other person who did not want to be taken to a hospital, said Battalion Chief Bob Millea of the Torrance Fire Department.

Officials arrived on scene just before 5 p.m. and found a vehicle "all the way into the building to the back wall with one patient up on the hood of the vehicle," Millea said.

Torrance police remained on scene to investigate the crash, Millea said.
