A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries on the strand and a home invasion robbery.

A 19-year-old San Bernardino man has been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries and a home invasion robbery in Hermosa Beach last month involving two suspects who claimed to be police officers, police said today.

Jose Luis Delgado was arrested on August 3, Hermosa Beach police Sgt. Robert Higgins said.

The burglaries and home invasion happened July 31, the sergeant said.

The home invasion robbery was committed by two men who claimed to be police officers, Higgins said at the time.

The crime happened about 12:05 a.m. in the 2800 block of The Strand, he said.

An unoccupied residence in the same neighborhood was burglarized about the same time as the robbery, Higgins said.

Two residences in the 1900 block of The Strand also were burglarized, Higgins said.

In the home invasion, the victim “woke up to the sounds of two suspects inside her bedroom,” Higgins said.

“The suspects verbally identified themselves as police officers,” Higgins said. “When the victim asked for law enforcement credentials, they refused. The suspects forced the victim to accompany them about the residence while they searched for valuables. The suspects ordered the victim to disrobe and forced her into a bathroom while they made their escape.”

The men fled with jewelry and an undisclosed amount of currency.
