Dog licenses help provide pet owners with proof of ownership and help to reunite lost dogs with their owners. They also assist in increasing rabies vaccinations because proof of vaccination is required for a license.
Dog licenses are $22 for neutered or spayed dogs, with proof of sterility, and $93 for non-neutered or non-spayed dogs. Licenses must be purchased or renewed before October 31 or a 50 percent penalty will be added to the cost of the license. Service dogs may obtain a City dog license at no cost if a service dog proof of certification is provided.

To purchase a license, please provide proof of rabies vaccination by a licensed veterinarian. The vaccination must be in effect for the entire licensing year. At this time, the City has not set a date for the annual rabies clinic due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Please contact a veterinarian for vaccinations. For more information, please visit the City’s website or call the Finance Cashier at (310) 318-0251 or (310) 318-0217.
