Construction Begins For Hermosa Avenue Improvement Project

Here's everything you need to know about the construction going on in Hermosa Beach this week.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA – Construction in Hermosa Beach for the Hermosa Avenue Improvement Project began Monday to upgrade and replace curb ramps to comply with ADA accessibility standards. The work to upgrade curb ramps along the entire corridor is expected to take three weeks to complete and the contractors will start on the east side of the street, working their way from 10th Street up to 26th Street, before moving to the west side of the street where they will work from 26th Street back toward 10th Street, the City of Hermosa Beach press release said.

Construction working hours are limited to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, but contractors may arrive at locations before 8 a.m.

"On the days noted in the schedule, there may be parking restrictions for a total of 3-4 spaces immediately next to the corner ramps, and these restrictions will be posted 72 hours in advance of the work occurring," the press release said. "During this phase of the project, street sweeping and trash collection will occur as planned and street sweeping restrictions will remain in effect."

Bus stops adjacent to corners where construction is present may be more difficult to access, although buses before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m. shouldn't be affected. As a precaution, the city recommends that riders pick the nearest alternate stops on days where work is to occur near the bus stop.

The following locations are tentatively scheduled for construction work to occur this week:
