El Camino College Presents Polli Chambers-Salazar and Christopher Brennan, Piano

One Night, Two Astounding Pianists, Three Classical Compositions

The Marsee Auditorium at El Camino College will echo with the entrancing sounds of talented pianists Polli Chambers-Salazar and Christopher Brennan at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25.

Chambers-Salazar has been teaching in El Camino College’s Music Department for seven years and is the author of a technical guidebook for beginning and advanced pianists. Her accomplishments include performing in venues throughout the United States and Canada, receiving a myriad of awards in competitions such as the Simon-Fiset Competition, the New Orleans International Piano Competition, and the Seattle Young Artists Festival. Polli has also appeared on KCBS-TV, KUSC Classical Radio, and has even compiled her own CD of classical works.

Professor Chambers-Salazar developed the “Classics Become Eclectic” series, a series of concerts that encourage audience participation and offer techniques for listening to and understanding classical music.

Polli received her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California and has served on keyboard faculties at the USC Thornton School of Music, Pasadena City College, and College of the Canyons.

Collaborating with Professor Chambers-Salazar is Dr. Christopher Brennan, piano instructor in the Hall-Musco Conservatory of Music in Chapman University’s College of Performing Arts.

Dr. Brennan has his Doctor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California and his Master of Music degree from Yale University. Christopher was an active chamber musician coaching with the Tokyo String Quartet at Yale, worked as a principal music critic for the Knoxville News-Sentinel and gives private lessons from a teaching studio in West Hollywood. He is currently recording a second CD of flute and piano music and has released a self-composed solo CD titled “Stories.”

The concert includes performances of Poulenc’s “Sonata for Four Hands,” Ravel’s “La Valse,” and Lutoslawski’s “Paganini Variations.”
