Here's Why There's A Helicopter Flying Over Hermosa Beach

Don't be worried if you see or hear a helicopter and drone equipment flying near the pier tonight.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA – If you see or hear a helicopter over the beach and around the Hermosa Beach Pier Thursday evening, don't be alarmed, according to the City of Hermosa Beach. It's part of an approved film permit issued by the city to film for the Veronica Mars TV Show.

The pier will be closed from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the helicopter and drone equipment will be filming above and around Sea Sprite and the pier as part of the filming, the city said.

This helicopter work, scheduled to take place from approximately 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., has been approved by the FAA, Hermosa Beach Police Department and LA County Fire and will remain at an altitude of at least 500 feet, the city said. After the aerial unit has completed their helicopter work, a drone will be used for additional filming until 10 p.m.
