Hermosa Beach Farmer's Market Offers Bucks For Buckets

Hermosa Beach Farmer's Market shoppers can grab a bucket, collect trash and redeem it for $1 market buck, redeemable at any vendor.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA — The Hermosa Beach Farmers' Market will reward residents and visitors when they pick up trash from the beach and streets during their visit. The market will provide shoppers with collection buckets and give participants $1 market buck, which is redeemable with any vendor, for each container of trash collected and turned in, according to South Bay Events.

The Bucks for Buckets program started May 1. The Farmer's Market also has a "Take a Bag, Leave a Bag" program which provide reusable bags for those who have left theirs at home, South Bay Events said.

"Thanks to all who participated in Bucks for Buckets this week! We collected lots of plastic particles, paper waste, and even some left-behind flip flops! We will continue to do this initiative on the first Wednesday of every month during the Huntington Beach Farmer's Market," the Farmer's Market Facebook page said.
