Rivera Village News & Updates

Riviera Village is still experiencing some changes to the landscape since the last time I wrote an update back in January.

Another long-time favorite retailer has closed its doors. Inge’s, A Fashion Discovery, located at 302 Avenue I, closed in March after almost thirty years in the Village. Proprietor Inge Jones decided to retire due to health issues after she fractured her femur. She will continue to work with her customers as a personal stylist, so all is not lost!

A new clothing boutique will soon open in the former Lisa Z space on Catalina Avenue. Urban Clothes Horse will carry men and women’s clothes, jewelry and cowboy boots and will featuring popular brand names such as Free People, Eileen Fisher and Joes Jeans. This new shop is brought to you by the owners of Safari which is located across the street.

Village Jewelers has moved into the space formerly occupied by Gigi’s right next to the fabulous Fernando’s. If you haven’t been in to see Ranessa and Fernando lately, be sure to stop by – you won’t find their unique merchandise anywhere else!

If you haven’t noticed yet, the parking meters throughout the Village are being reconfigured to take credit cards. I don’t know how long this process will take but in the meantime, FREE PARKING FOR ALL!

With regard to all the orange cones, engineers, temporary no parking signs and survey spray paint in the neighborhood; the triangle parking lot improvements were supposed to have begun but are now a few weeks behind schedule. In the meantime, crews are doing a bunch of prep work – removing tree roots, curbs and such. It’ll be a mess for a while but then just think about how nice it will be!

Last but not least, the next Riviera Village Mixer takes place on Thursday, April 23 at Zazou (upstairs)!

That’s all for now – see you around the hood!
