The City of Manhattan Beach and Skechers present the annual Manhattan Beach Open Tennis Tournament starting today, Thursday, July 25 and running through Sunday, July 28. On Friday, July 26 between 8:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. the Torrance Police Department Traffic Division will conduct a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint at an undisclosed location. The Police Department offers these reminders to ensure a fun night doesn’t get spoiled with a DUI:-Always use a designated sober driver – a friend who is not drinking, ride-share, cab or public transportation to get home.-See someone who is clearly impaired try and drive? Take the keys and help them make other arrangements to find a sober way home.-Report drunk drivers, call 911.-Hosting a party? Offer nonalcoholic drinks. Monitor who are drinking and how they are getting home.The impact of a DUI arrest can be upwards of $13,500. This includes fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspension and possible jail time. The Malaga Cove Business & Professional Association, in cooperation with the Palos Verde Police Officers Association, is proud to present Concerts in the Park. The concerts will take place every Wednesday evening July 10 through August 28 at Farham Martin’s Park adjacent to the Malaga Cove Library. The music starts at 6:30 p.m. but concert goers may arrive at the park as early as 3 p.m. to spread a blanket and claim a prime parking spot.
