ArcLight Cinemas in El Segundo has become a staple of the Beach Cities community and now the theater is offering moviegoers an even better way to enjoy their cinema experience. Effective immediately, ArcLight Beach Cities has a new liquor license allowing guests to take their beer, wine or cocktail into anytheater. It is no longer reserved for select 21+ screenings only! This feature is available now, just in time for the premiere ofEntourage this weekend. So grab your entourage and head to ArcLight Beach Cities. The Unified Small Business Alliance presents the monthlyRoundtable Discussion and Networking Event tonight, Thursday, June 4 at Continental Gourmet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. All small business owners are invited to attend this FREE event. The Los Angeles Tango Marathon, aka, The Endless Summer Tango, will take place June 4 through June 7 at several locations throughout Southern Cal with a couple of fun events in the South Bay. The event draws Argentine Tango enthusiasts from all over the West Coast for three days of non-stop dancing. The event kicks off with a Warm-Up Milongita featuring DJ Silvia on Thursday, June 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Studio Art of Dance located at 113 Main Street in El Segundo. The cost is $10 per person. On Thursday, June 4 from 6 to 9 p.m., the public is invited to a Bonfire Party & Drum Circle led by a professional percussionist. If you have a small percussion instrument or a drum, please bring it with you along with a blanket or beach chair. Snacks provided. Attendees may bring non-alcoholic beverages and food to share. This is a FREE event. On Sunday, June 7 the Surf’s Up Beach Milonga will take place at Manhattan Beach Pier from 1 to 4 p.m.with DJ Derek. Finley’s Tree & Landcare Water Efficiency Technology (WET) Team will host a Town Hall Meeting to discuss everything you need to know regarding water conservation on Thursday, June 4 at the Elks Lodge in Redondo Beach. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a meet and greet cocktail hour featuring a complimentary open bar and appetizers. The presentation starts at 6:30 p.m. followed by a question and answer session. The guest speakers will cover topics from current water restrictions to rebates available through Cal Water. Guests will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win prizes. The Torrance Police Department is hosting a Women’s Fitness Challenge on Saturday, June 6. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wilson Park Sports Center in Torrance. Participants will have a chance to practice the physical agility course, learn about the hiring process and speak with Torrance Police Officers from a variety of details. Food and beverages will be provided along with a chance to win some prizes. Registration for the event is not required; however, those who register by June 3 are guaranteed a free T-shirt. The Roundhouse Aquarium presents the third annual Fun Run for the Oceans on Saturday, June 6. This 5K family-friendly run/walk gets underway at 9:30 a.m. at the Manhattan Beach Pier and will benefit the Roundhouse Aquarium. The event will raise funds to support the Aquarium’s ocean education programs and classes. Race check-in will be on the north side of the pier in the sand near the showers and pier. The race will begin and end in the wet sand. Registration is $35 per person and includes a T-shirt, water and refreshments. The first, second and third place finishers in each division will receive great prizes. All participants 14 and under will receive a medal. A raffle will be held after race with even more prizes! Raffle tickets are $5 each and you don’t have to participate in the run to buy a ticket and win! Registration is open until 9 a.m.on race day. The Redondo Beach Historical Society presents the biennialHistoric Homes Tour on Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.The Society has been hosting home tours since 1982 as part of the City’s 90 Birthday Celebration. The tour will feature five homes and the Morrell House and Queen Anne Museum, complimentary refreshments, wine bar and local business discounts. This year’s tour begins at the Morrell House located at Heritage Court at 298 Flagler Lane in Redondo Beach. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 day of the event – no tickets will be sold after 3 p.m. on the day of the tour. On tour day, advance ticket-holders will need to exchange their tickets for a tour booklet (the booklet is the only ticket that will be honored at the various locations). The Torrance Art Museum at the Joslyn Center (TAM) invites the public to attend the Opening Reception of Forgetting the Future: Entropy in the Reflective Age and Storm: Mimmo Catania on Saturday, June 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. The opening reception is free to the public and no RSVP is necessary. The exhibitions will be on view from Tuesday, June 9 through Saturday, July 25. Support local artists at the twelfth annual Hermosa Beach Fine Arts Festival on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7. Formerly known as Hermosa Artwalk, the Festival has grown considerably over the years and now takes place on the lawn of the Community Center between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days. The Hermosa Beach Art Walk was founded in 2002 by local artist Ken Klade as a non-profit community organization and art exhibition designed to promote arts education and appreciation. The event features the work of nearly 100 talented artists in a variety of mediums including photography, glass, metal, paintings, ceramics and mixed media. Attendees will enjoy live music and food for purchase along with arts and crafts for children. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Palos Verdes Street Fair and Music Festival on Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, June 7 from9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy shopping, music, dining and entertainment with more than 200 arts and crafts booths, carnival rides, International Food Court, Beer Garden, children’s petting zoo and pony rides, community events, pet adoptions and continuous live entertainment on two separate stages. The Top Dogs Show will be held on Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. Ribbons will be awarded in categories such as Best Costume, Fastest Wagging Tail and Best Kisser. Convenient all-day carnival ride wristbands will be available for purchase. Tribute bands will be showcased on the Main Stage and will feature several different music genres including Rock and Blues. Artisan craft brews and a variety of culinary delights, including wine & beer tastings, will be available in the International Food Court and Beer Garden. Depot Productions presents the Triple B Romp & Stomp at Buffalo Fire Department on Sunday, June 7. The event takes place from noon to 6 p.m. and features bourbon tastings, BFD-style BBQ and blues bands! In addition to BFD House Band, Eddie Estudillo & Hush, there will be performances by Jack Roberts Harvey Band, Dennis Herrera Blues Band, Pacific Combustion, Sista Sherry Pruitt and other special guests. If you’re not a bourbon drinker, never fear – microbrews and alternative libations will be available! Funds raised will benefit the South Bay Children’s Choir and El Camino College Chorale. El Segundo Museum of Art presents the Grand Opening - Experience 17: STUDIO! on Sunday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy Family Day art making activities and curatorial remarks by Nana Bahlmann, Exhibition Associate at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Meet up with friends and bring your family for a day of fun! Tour the Experience, complete the STUDIO Scavenger Hunt and participate in art-making activities. Chevron is proud to sponsor the 54 annual Manhattan Beach Grand Prix. This world class cycling event takes place Sunday, June 7 at Live Oak Park beginning at 7 a.m. Come out and watch the world’s fastest men and women cyclists put the pedal to the metal! The main event features men and women’s pro races but there’s something for everyone, including a special race for the kids. Tricycles and bikes with training wheels are welcome (ages 2 through 6 years). The entry fee is $5 per rider and registration starts at noon on race day at the ball field north of the Joslyn Center. All participants must sign a release form at registration. The Manhattan Beach Grand Prix is a National Criterium Calendar Event with a cash purse worth $26,500. There will be vendor booths offering a wide variety of cycling merchandise, nutritional exhibits and local organizations. Food vendors will be on site, including Good Stuff’s ‘Taco Guy’, Marianne’s Crepes de France, Grandma’s House wood-fired pizza and others.
