Everything you need to know about what is happening this weekend in the South Bay of Los Angeles

The Summer Concert Season has begun and I’ve compiled a handy list of all the major concert series taking place throughout the South Bay this summer. In addition to our longtime favorites, there are a couple of new ones this year. Some have already begun, while others won't start until August. It's going to be another fun-filled, ♫musical summer♫ in the South Bay! You can view the list in today’s Daily Blog athttps://www.southbaybyjackie.com/daily-blog.
El Segundo Museum of Art presents Experience #35: GROUNDED, opening today, Thursday, June 7 and running through September 22. GROUNDED is about the work of two prominent Southern Californian photographers: John Divola and Zoe Crosher. Each has done a major project very different from the other’s but with a common theme – LAX. Done 30 years apart, the two projects are very different in approach and look, which is why the two are astute commentaries not only on the history of LAX, but on the history of photography itself. GROUNDED is curated by Colin Westerbeck. As always, admission is FREE! For additional information, visit the website at https://esmoa.org/. ESMoA is located at 208 Main Street, El Segundo, CA 90245.

I know, I know, this isn’t the most glamorous bit of information, but they sent me an actual press release and I figured you should know about it….Terranea Resort recently opened an all new public restroom facility located along the public coastal trails that wind through the property. Providing welcome amenities for both the local community and visitors to the area is a long-standing priority for the resort and this new build will ideally make a day visit to Terranea and its surrounding beaches, hiking and biking trails even easier. The new facility is located at the bluffs near Nelson’s restaurant, just off the coastal trail. Up to 70% of the materials used in its buildout were supplied from within a 5 mile radius. All toilets are equipped to meet low water flow standards; pre-consumer, recycled clay roof tiles were used to reduce energy demands; and brick pavers were repurposed from past projects; among other sustainable build initiatives.
There’s a new gamer option in town! mealeap USA has just opened in Hermosa Beach. mealeap USA offers HADO ™ augmented reality gaming experiences in a brick and mortar location in the Hermosa Pavilion, and is completely mobile, with the ability to set up at off-site locations. HADO ™ combines motion sensors, smartphones, sports and AR tech to create a whole new experience called Techno Sports. HADO ™’’s AR tech enables people to shoot the energy balls and pull up the shields that people have dreamed of since childhood. I was invited to come by for a demo – and while I get a little queasy with 3D and VR, I didn’t have a problem with AR. The game involves two teams of 3 players, and if you’re into strategy, a coach on the sidelines. The playing field is a bit smaller than a volleyball court sans the net. Players are provided with a headset and a smartphone to wear on your wrist. The phone screen controls the speed and size of the energy balls and shields. It’s just like a game of dodge ball, without the ball or the bruises – you’re still dodging and weaving. It’s a ton of fun and quite the workout! meleap USA competes in the HADO ™ World Cup which offers a substantial grand prize, with teams from several countries represented. mealeap USA is now looking to recruit teams right here in the South Bay. Mealeap USA is currently offering demos to businesses interested in team building, event organizers and anyone thinking about including the HADO ™ gaming experience at an event. They plan on having demo events for the general public in the near future, so stay tuned for all the details. For additional information, contact Damir Vranjes at 310-483-2080 or via email at d.vranjes@meleap-usa.com.
