Traditionally, the official kick-off for the holiday shopping season is Black Friday, but if you prefer not to shop in a mosh pit, there are several local shopping opportunities this weekend, some of which benefit local charities. It’s all about keeping it local! Anyway, I hope the weather improves since there are a couple of outdoor events I plan to attend over the next few days…. June Gloom in November, who knew?
Families can experience the joy and magic of the holiday season with a visit to the Santa Photo Experience at Del Amo Fashion Center November 8 through December 24. The event is intended to not only provide guests with a memorable dining experience and exceptional service, but to also collect tips and donations to benefit Special Olympics. Tip-A-Cop is a fun and entertaining way for the community to meet their local police officers, firefighters and Special Olympic Athletes. All tips are a tax-deductible donation to Special Olympics, which provides athletic training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the South Bay Area. The Redondo Beach Police Department is proud to present the annual King of the Harbor Skateboard Championships on Sunday, November 17 at 10 a.m. at the Redondo Pier. This FREE event is open to all levels of skaters between ages 8 to 18 – all are invited to participate and compete. Registered participants will receive a free T-shirt, trophies, lunch, snacks, cool giveaways, prizes and more provided FREE courtesy of the generous sponsors. The winner’s names will be inscribed on the perpetual trophy that will hang at the Police Station. You can choose to just come out and skate all day at the Pier, or you can compete to win prizes and be crowned King of the Harbor! There will be music and lots of other cool stuff.
