Summer Fun Extravaganza: This Weekend In Hermosa Beach
Support local businesses, watch some surfers, and catch a free movie or concert right on the beach – there's something fun for everyone.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA – This weekend will be jam-packed with summer fun activities in Hermosa Beach. If you're looking for some (free) weekend plans, check out some of the best Hermosa Beach has to offer, including the Summer Sidewalk Celebration, and free events right on the beach.
- Go sidewalk shopping to promote local businesses!
- Summer Sidewalk Celebration: August 4-6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Downtown Hermosa Beach
- Retail stores will use this weekend to showcase their new products while moving their seasonal merchandise inside and outside the stores for a festive admostphere. Store owners will "dress up" their storefronts with beach-themed decorations, host contests, and provide refreshments to shoppers. Restaurants will have specials for the event, and many businesses will even have kid-friendly activities – the scavenger hunt will award prizes! This event is hosted by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau and sponsored by Southern California Edison.

- International Surf Festival: August 2-6, times and locations vary by day
- You can watch lifeguards race, a pier to pier swim and pier to pier paddle, volleyball sand run, and activities for the kids. Presented by BeachSport.org, the City of Hermosa Beach is a co-sponsor of the event. For more information, visit the International Surf Festival website.

- The Karate Kid: August 5, 7:30 p.m. at the south side of the pier
- This free event is presented by The City of Hermosa Beach along with South Bay Film and Music Festival. Bring a blanket or low beach chair along with a picnic and enjoy the film. There will be popcorn and water available for purchase along with Friends of the Parks t-shirts, caps and blankets. For more information, visit the Friends of the Parks website.
- The Karate Kid: August 5, 7:30 p.m. at the south side of the pier
- Go watch a free concert!
- Robert Randolph The Family Band: August 6, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the south side of the pier
- Bring blankets and beach chairs and catch some free music right on the beach. Bring the whole family and eat a picnic while enjoying the sights and sounds of music next to the ocean.
