Walk With Sally Bowl-A-Thon Recap

Fundraiser for Walk With Sally

The Eighth Annual Bowl-A-Thon, presented by Walk With Sally, rolled its way into Torrance and came out a big winner.

On Saturday, March 7, over 30 bowling teams took part in the event dressed in their favorite decade-inspired attire at PV Bowl in Torrance to support the organization and its programs.

Approximately 250 attendees and participants and raised over $65,000 for Walk With Sally. Throughout the day, Vox DJs pumped up the crowd with a set list which began with music from the 50′s and ended with chart topping hits on the radio today. Other musical highlights included a kick line dance during Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” and a bowling team dance off which gave the winning team a trip to Lake Tahoe.

Attendees were able to participate in a silent auction filled with hotel stays, sports memorabilia, weekend trips and much more.

To help liven up the event was Dana Workman of Fox Sports and actresses Vanessa Branch from Pirates of the Caribbean and Stephanie Drake from Mad Men.

Teams were challenged to raise money leading up to the event and the team that came out on top was “Papa Was A Bowling Stone” who raised $10,623 and was led by ‘Mentor of the Year’, Sharon Strauss.

Walk With Sally is a non-profit based in Los Angeles, CA and is committed to providing healing and comfort to children debilitated by the emotional experience of living with or losing a parent or sibling to cancer. This healing is facilitated through free of charge mentoring support programs and services that provide an emotionally safe environment for children to share their difficult experience with someone who has suffered the same.
