In the Wake of Terror
In the face of the brutal terrorist attack at the Boston marathon we need to be able to keep peace within, for the sake of ourselves and the world.

Emotional security has to be reconciled against aggression and attack. We are seeing this play out on a national level with the explosion of a bomb at the Boston marathon, “an act of terrorism”. These things jangle our nerves and light the fire of anger.
Our job, if we choose to accept it, is to secure our inner security. We must be like Daniel in the lions den, so unperturbed that wild beasts do not move to harm us. Is this angering and upsetting? Of course it is. But as is often said, what matters is not what happens to us, but how we respond.
Our emotions, passions and fears can get us stuck in the muddy swamp, or we can rise and transcend. Jesus said, “If I be lifted, I will lift all others unto myself, Panache Desai, spiritual teacher (www.panachedesai.com) said that if you become a better person, you make it better for 7.2 billion people (essentially everyone on the planet).
Let’s try to keep our counsel and our sense of security. Ultimately it is an inside job, no matter what happens on the outside. We can’t do that eye for an eye thing. If you are angry, notice how you are vibrating. Notice the tension in your body, the frown in your face, the spit of your speech. You don’t want someone else’s violence to transform you in this way. Tension, anger and bitterness won’t protect you, the nation or those that have fallen. Summon the defense strategy of Daniel in the Lions Den.
